Pray at his beguiling altar: Rick Owens brings a temporary new DRKSHDW store to London.

The newest addition to his seditious empire of fashion comes branded as an éphémère (call it a pop-up and be punished) and is open on Redchurch Street from today until 13th October, the day after his notorious Spotlight club took over a sex den in E3.

Our local has a twisted sister in New York too, open until 26th October, carrying a similar stock of DRKSHDW men’s and women’s collections, hats, bags and shoes as well as pieces exclusive pieces you won’t find anywhere else.

Since its launch in late 2005, Owens’ predominantly denim and knitwear line has featured wardrobe staples in his signature style, for quite a pretty penny less than his eponymous collections. The beauty of this parallel offering is the emphasis on creating a range which not only reflects his runway but perversely sometimes seems to out-demand it.

Think frogskin wallets opposed to crocodile, or acrylic paint and cotton jersey combinations replacing crêpe de Chine or sable. There is still avantgarde in abundance, it’s just less savage on the wallet. There you go, then: DRKSHDW, a uniform for disciples of his fashion cult the world over. Light a candle when you chip-and-PIN.

LONDON, until 13th October
30A Redchurch Street
London, E2 7DP

NEW YORK, until 26th October
