White out

Converse by Maison Martin Margiela
Fashion | 6 September 2013

Converse has hooked up with fashion’s most elusive, Maison Martin Margiela to offer a new spin on its signature Chuck Taylors and Jack Purcells.

The house, famous for painting everything white that stands still long enough (a way to create unified environments from the collected) has customised its sneakers by hand with emulsion.

Underneath, the shoes are classic red, black, navy and exclusive-for-MMM vintage yellow, upgraded with off-white leather lining. The more they’re worn, the more the paint cracks, revealing both the colour underneath and a trace of time, another Margiela signature.
