This article is part of Weekend Combo – What to do this weekend

We bring you our guide to living well in the world’s capitals, from exhibitions to cinema, food, drink, fashion, music and beyond. Just call it culture and take it, it’s yours.

LONDON, FRIDAY 29th NOVEMBER – SUNDAY 1st December 2013

Come and See. You know you want to
Come and See, a major exhibition by Jake & Dinos Chapman at the Serpentine’s new Sackler Gallery, demonstrates the multifaceted nature of the artists’ practice and explores their ‘provocative and deliberately confrontational work’, which approaches controversial subjects with irreverence and dark humour.

Twisting historic narratives or peeling back the surface of consumer-driven culture to reveal the horror and irony that lies beneath, the Chapmans force us to confront the dark thoughts that lie at the heart of the Western psyche.

The beauty is in the details here so go early, caffeinated and ready to hone your attention.

Jake & Dinos Chapman: Come and See
Until 9th February 2014
Serpentine Sackler Gallery, West Carriage Drive, Kensington Gardens, London, W2 2AR

If it’s not Blue we’re not interested
Blue is the Warmest Colour  is a film whose reputation preceeded it at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, even before it was awarded the Palme d’Or it was making waves through the critic’s set, even receiving high acclaim from Steven Spielberg. French filmmaker Abdellatif Kechiche’s based it upon Julie Maroh’s graphic novel, which depicts a profoundly moving insight into to both love and modern life.
In short, it can only be described as a beautifully well detailed three-hour study of first lesbian love, filmed with jaw dropping attention to detail – befitting a story of epic emotional transformation.

Expect intense embraces, heartaching exchanges and cinematography that will blow you away.

Graceland via Camden
It’s clear that Joy and Simon Brigg love America. They’ve spent years on the road
there and sampled all sorts of excellent food along the way, some of which they’ve decided to bring a taste of – via those diners, drive-ins and dives – to their new scranning hall in Camden.

Porky’s is staying true to its Memphis culinary roots and incorporating the full smokey flavours of the famous Tennessee BBQ; they’ll be meaty ribs and rib tips, homemade BBQ sauce, perfect burgers, whole smoked chickens, and pulled pork that’s been cooked low for over 16 hours in the smokers they’ve imported from Oklahoma.

Settle your expanding waistline with cold American (and local) craft beers on the bar, there’s classic Tennessee tunes on the speakers too.

In the words of Bob Clarke’s 1982 teen sexploitation classic of the same name, “You’ll be glad you’ve come!”

Porky’s BBQ Camden, 18 Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8AG
Meal for two with drinks and service: around £60
Open 9:00 – late on weekends

A well-lacquered liquor joint
The Punch Room at the London Edition hotel is an almost perfect follow on from an indulgent weekend spent scoffing at Porky’s or meandering around the Serpentine. Located not too far from Oxford Street this punch slinging establishment set within Fitzrovia’s most fashionable hotel is an ideal retreat for sophisticated weekend beverages.

The Punch Room’s bar is, as the name suggests, totally devoted to punch – so don’t dare ask for anything else.

It’s discreet, snug and intimate, understated in comparison to the impressively grand lobby bar at the front (which is also good for a pit-stop).
