Burberry is sponsoring the British Pavillion at the 60th Venice Biennale
By Ella Joyce | Art | 11 March 2024

Since Daniel Lee took to the helm of Burberry at the end of 2022, the brand’s presence in the art world has grown exponentially under his creative vision. From sponsoring Sarah Lucas’ retrospective Happy Gas at the Tate Britain to collaborating with Wayne McGregor on costumes for The Royal Ballet and supporting the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition with The Thomas Burberry Prize, Lee’s championing of British art hasn’t gone unnoticed. Next up for the British house is a return to Venice as the headline sponsor of the British Pavilion at the 60th Biennale.

The British Council has commissioned artist, writer and filmmaker John Akomfrah to represent the UK, presenting a piece titled Listening All Night to The Rain meditating on themes of memory, migration, racial injustice and climate change. In celebration of Akomfrah’s commission, Burberry will also be hosting an intimate talk with the artist and Talk Art podcast duo Russell Tovey and Robert Diament during the opening week in April.

La Biennale di Venezia will run from April 20th – November 24th, more info here
