Swedish outfitter Our Legacy are spreading their wings and London is their first point of call with a new store in Soho, their first outside of Sweden.

Our Legacy originally emerged quietly in 2005 as a limited line of printed t-shirts created by friends Christopher Nying and Jockum Hallin, who have since expanded their philosophy to full collections and their own standalone stores in Gothenburg and Stockholm. The duo say the new UK outpost was a natural progression in reaction to a positive response from the market over the past two years.

“The UK has developed into a great market for us, especially in the past two years,” said Jockum Hallin in a release. “We’ve thought a lot about that, and we’re not entirely sure why—it’s not like it’s been a conscious decision to focus on the U.K. I suppose there was just something that clicked between us.”

White and fiercely minimal, the store stands out beneath it’s neon signage. “The goal was to get heavy things floating,” explained Hallin. “We used simple materials to look more than they are, a bit like with the clothes. There’s an industrial feel to it.” Which means, a hefty amount of stainless steel, glass, and concrete, plus a resin-covered floor conceptualised as an illusion – the customer feels they are standing on glass.

There’s clearly a strong language behind this brand, and one that will no doubt continue to run thick across the duo’s larger expansion plan, with future vision looking to the US.
