DKNY returns to its urban roots with a slick FW15 presentation during NYFW

Last season DKNY broke convention and showed their SS15 at LC:M, but for FW15 the New York centric brand DKNY moved back to their regular residence in New York to present their FW15 collection. Titled Cold Fusion the RTW collection catered to the typical New Yorker’s needs, ‘an urban–ready hybrid wardrobe to travel the day, gym-to-office-to-night’ – says the press release.

A modern urban aesthetic forms the lynchpin of Donna Karan’s eponymous line, sleek and casual the brand delivered its message with precision for FW15. Centred around bonded technical fabrics and contemporary silhouettes the collection pointed towards frosty winter New York days. Those ones when all you really want to do is curl up in bed – but in a city that never sleeps there’s no time for laziness.

Blending aspects of active wear with a more formal aesthetic in a predominantly neutral palette of greys, industrial blues and cobalt.

Outerwear featured heavily, tweed blazers, wadded raglan coats, puffer jackets and macs. Layers are key here, roll necks under sweatshirts, under coats – long and short – ideal for a busy schedule, apace with the New York vibe. The DKNY man doesn’t stand still for long, innately programmed to mix it up and move forward.
