Tiger of Sweden and Agi & Sam have been recognised at the WGSN Global Fashion Awards, taking home the Menswear Design and Breakthrough Menswear Designer awards, respectively.

WGSN operates the awards to recognise individuals and companies within the industry; it’s the only the event whose categories stretch across every continent and is judged by an international judging panel.

Take the first winner, Tiger of Sweden, which was brought back to life in 1993 by CEO David Thunmarker, pulling the 90-year-old brand out of bankruptcy through its Scandi-take on tailoring. Sweden’s duality of tradition and modernity – with extensive, meticulous tinkering from Thunmarker – has elevated the label from rags to riches.

Agi & Sam’s rise has been meteoric, but with strong signs of longevity bolstered by industry respect. They debuted their first collection at Menswear Day during London Fashion Week back in September 2010. Five years later and the boys are now known for their bespoke, emphatic prints and controlled balance between sartorial normality and innovation.

Both brands will be showing next month at London Collections: Men – watch this space and see how this recognition has amplified their game.

Stay tuned to HERO come June for full fashion-week coverage, from London, Florence, Milan, Paris and New York.
