From the Métro (as last season’s presentation was styled out) to a 60’s airport for SS14, AMI’s man is on the move.

Quite literally. Nominated for this years’ ANDAM award (previous winners include Gareth Pugh and Anthony Vaccarello), designer Alexandre Mattiussi stands to win €250,000 in the next days to develop his business as well as a mentorship programme. (Good luck!).

The money would come in handy in ensuring this designer reaches that next level, but Mattiussi’s skill for creating a wardrobe that speaks to a cross section of men has already made this brand hot property in Paris. He has his own boutique just two years after founding the label.

Around the conveyor belt at this Palais de Tokyo installation, we saw the suited in various permutations, the dapper dressed-down and even a well-turned out skater. Before it began, Tommy Ton, a man nourished by styling nuances, shot the lookbook on-set.

There was a lot of love in the room for this designer, with many attendees dressed in AMI pieces they’ve bought themselves. It’s therefore encouraging to see Mattiussi gaining traction – we need proposals such as his that are done with a cool hand and a sense of intelligence. Men, and the girls that steal from them, look good in these clothes.
