Lanvin Lab’s second guest designer is Erwin Wurm
By Barry Pierce | Art | 9 April 2024

After the success of Lanvin Lab’s first collection under the creative direction of Future, the French house’s experimental offshoot has enlisted the Austrian multi-media artist Erwin Wurm to helm their second capsule collection. Wurm is best-known for his strange sculptures, including his tremendously unsettling Fat Cars series and his absurdist One Minute Sculptures series that requires the subject to perform an unusual activity and hold it for exactly one minute.

For his collaboration with Lanvin, Wurm has created a new large-scale sculptural work that will travel over the coming months across various public spaces in China. Titled Desire, the work is unmistakably Wurm and takes the form of one of Lanvin’s Pencil Cat Bags anthropomorphised with long legs wearing Cash sneakers, all rendered in the signature Lanvin blue.
