As a designer, Yohji Yamamoto has always existed on the cusp between fashion and art with some of his greatest runway shows being closer to conceptual performance than traditional catwalks. Now, for the first time in Italy, Yohji’s work will be mounted as an exhibition at Milan’s 10 Corso Como Gallery.

The exhibition, titled Yohji Yamamoto. Letter to the Future, has been curated by the professor of Fashion Archives at Sapienza University of Rome, Alessio de′ Navasques. The exhibition will gather together numerous pieces from the history of the Yohji Yamamoto brand where they will act as “protagonists” in a journey where “every shape, cut and geometry transmits an idea of the future and beyond time.”

Yohji Yamamoto. Letter to the Future will open at 10 Corso Como Gallery, Milan on May 16th and run until July 31st.
